What is ontology?

Ontology asks what exists and what makes reality what it is. One way in begins with the question itself:

What must be the case for us to ask about reality at all?

In the very act of asking, something appears — at least the question itself. From here, we can explore what we take for granted, the distinctions we make and how everything connects. The search for what is fundamental begins within our own experience.

ontoMOT

Thinking & writing

Through dialogue, ideas become a body of work.

ontoMOT explores a shared space for people and artificial intelligence to think and write together. Integral ontology provides a point of reference: What assumptions underpin an idea? Which perspective is missing? And how does each part fit into a wider context?

The idea is to develop thoughts through conversation, clarify concepts and write with their connections in mind. The aim is to help a body of work grow — thoughtful in its foundations as well as clear in its expression.

The genealogy of ideas

Every idea has a history.

integrALL reveals the inner structure of the ontology as an interactive tree of origins. It begins with two independent starting points: “The All has no outside” and “Something appears”. One concerns the whole; the other begins with immediate experience. Neither is derived from the other.

From there, statements and their connections can be explored all the way back to their roots. It remains clear where one idea follows from another and where a different kind of connection is involved. An extensive philosophical work becomes an accessible space for discovering relationships and tracing the reasoning behind them.

ontoLYS

Orientation for AI

What makes an answer hold up?

An answer can sound convincing while resting on unexamined assumptions. ontoLYS investigates how AI-generated answers can be checked against explicit philosophical foundations. What does a statement presuppose? Is it consistent with those foundations? What still needs clarification?

An interactive diagram, the ontoLYS Circuit, makes this idea tangible: from a question to a draft answer and its review. It shows which steps have been implemented and which describe the intended design. The project is in development and invites us to consider the path to an answer as carefully as the answer itself.

tetraLOG

Rethinking the question

Sometimes an answer begins with a better question.

tetraLOG explores how a question can lead us further. Does one answer hold up, does the alternative, or can both perspectives form a meaningful whole? If none of these paths is justified, the question itself needs attention: Which assumption fails? How could we ask differently while keeping the original concern in view?

A chat prototype brings three AI systems into a process of proposing, comparing and reviewing. It records why an approach has been ruled out, so that later questions can take that knowledge into account. The aim is to learn from failed approaches and develop better questions. Reasons remain visible and open to revision; unresolved issues stay open.
